Dominican Sixth After Opening Round of ECAC Divsion II Golf

Syracuse, N.Y. - Lloyd Notely fired a four-under par 67 to lead Post to a seven-stroke lead after the opening round of the 2006 ECAC Division II Men's Golf Championship at Drumlins Golf Club. Notely carded the only score under par at the 6,213 yard Par 71 course.

Syracuse, N.Y. - Lloyd Notely fired a four-under par 67 to lead Post to a seven-stroke lead after the opening round of the 2006 ECAC Division II Men's Golf Championship at Drumlins Golf Club. Notely carded the only score under par at the 6,213 yard Par 71 course.

Nine of the 19 teams enter the final day within 11 strokes of the leader. Pace combined for a 14-over score of 298 for second place. Host Le Moyne and West Chester are tied for third at +15 (299). Assumption (300, +16) sits fifth, Dominican (301, +17) is sixth, while Bryant, Dowling and Mercyhurst tied for seventh - one stroke behind Dominican. New Haven (304, +20) is 10th, followed by Goldey-Beacom (305, +21) and UMass Lowell (307, +21). Adelphi, St. Thomas Aquinas and Wilmington (309, +25) are tied for 13th, while Northeast-10 Conference Champion Bentley and its fellow conference members Saint Rose and Saint Michael's are tied for 16th with an opening round score of 312. Franklin Pierce carded a 46-over score of 330.

Notely will carry a four-stroke individual lead over Dominican's Brian Mackey (Chestnut Ridge, NY) into the final day of the championship. Mackey carded an even-par 71. Jonathan Goguen of Saint Michael's, Assumption's Tyler Johnson, Mike Philipp of Bryant and Dan Psinakis of Pace are five shots off the lead at one-over par. Le Moyne's Dan McCarthy, Joe Tesori and Tim Martins shot matching 74's to lead the host institution.

Final round action will take place on Monday.
