BASEBALL FALLS ON DAY ONE OF CACC TOURNAMENT

New Castle, DE (5/10/12) The Dominican College baseball team, the third seed in the 2012 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Tournament, fell to the second-seeded Wildcats of Wilmington University, 1-0 in first round action played at Wilson Stadium. In the other game of the day, top top-seeded Felician College Golden-Falcons defeated the fourth seed, Bloomfield College 5-1.

New Castle, DE (5/10/12)  The Dominican College baseball team, the third seed in the 2012 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Tournament, fell to the second-seeded Wildcats of Wilmington University, 1-0 in first round action played at Wilson Stadium.  In the other game of the day, top top-seeded Felician College Golden-Falcons defeated the fourth seed, Bloomfield College 5-1.

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the ninth inning when the 'Cats led off the inning with a single, moved over to second base on a sacrifice bunt and scored on the RBI single up-the-middle for the 1-0 victory.

Wilmington pitching limited the Charger offense to a lone hit, a single up-the-middle off the bat of designated hitter, senior Tyler Sadawske* (Waukesha, WI).

Starter Ryan Calby (Huntington Station, NY) went eight innings, recording five strikeouts and allowing five hits.  Right-handed reliever Matthew Festa (Staten Island, NY) took the loss (3-1) in 1/3 inning of work, allowing one run on two hits.

Dominican is back in action tomorrow at the CACC Baseball Tournament as they take on Bloomfield College at 12pm in an elimination game.
