CACC SCHOOLS CONTINUE TRADITION OF RAISING MONEY FOR MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATION
NEW HAVEN (July 20, 2006) - Member institutions of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) raised the fourth-most money in this year's annual Division II fund-raiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Now in its third year participating in the fund-raiser, the CACC raised $7,420.26.
The fund-raiser has become a yearly initiative for Division II Student Athlete Advisory Councils (SAAC) across the nation. Participating institutions collected money before and during athletic contests throughout the year, with all donations going straight to the charity to assist in providing memorable experiences for children with life-threatening illnesses.
The 22 Division II Conferences set a goal of collecting $100,000 this year and that mark was surpassed as a total of $114,000 was raised. The CACC was one of only three conferences that had 100% of its members contribute.
The effort was a huge success, as this year's total donation easily surpassed last year's sum of $74,000. The contribution from the CACC was almost $2,200 more than last year.
